Jazz Ensembles

Jazz Ensembles are extra-curricular activities for students meeting in the spring semester, split between two ability-based ensembles. Rehearsals are held two evenings per week. Admission into Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II requires an audition on traditional jazz instruments including saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, and drum set/percussion. Only students enrolled in a curricular ensemble course are welcome to audition (including Orchestra/Choir).

Jazz Ensembles perform at several special area events and concerts each year including the Mid-Illini Jazz Festival, at Bradley University's Jazz Festival, and the Heidi White Memorial Concert in Morton. Jazz Band I competes at the Jazz in the Meadows festival in Rolling Meadows, and placed first in Class 1A in 2025 and 2026.

Jazz Ensembles are under the direction of Jeff Arbisi.
