Symphonic Winds is the second of three ability-based concert ensembles at Morton High School, typically the largest concert ensemble of the three. With a diverse range of age and experience, Symphonic Winds seeks to compliment the strengths and improve the weaknesses of its musicians with engaging and challenging wind band literature that helps accomplish this goal.
Students in Symphonic Winds frequently take on extra-curricular musical challenges such as ILMEA All-District/State Auditions, IHSA Solo & Ensemble Festival performances, and some are selected to the Mid-Illinois Conference Honors Band. Private Lessons are highly encouraged for Symphonic Winds students, and after-school rehearsals will be scheduled to deepen study into their repertoire.
Symphonic Winds is under the direction of Andy Empey and Luke Shaffer.
