Wind Ensemble is the first of three ability-based concert ensembles at Morton High School, and is the most selective in membership. The Wind Ensemble rehearses in-class and on a schedule of after-school rehearsals and clinics to refine a selection of advanced wind band literature for concerts, regional festivals, and audition recordings.

The Morton High School Wind Ensemble has performed at the highly competitive University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival of Champaign (named Honor Band in 2024 and 2026), the Music for All National Concert Band Festival of Muncie, IN (named Honor Band in 2023), and the Illinois Music Education Conference of Peoria. Students are regularly selected for ILMEA All-District and All-State Festivals and Mid-Illini All-Conference Honors Band. Private Lessons are expected.

Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Andy Empey and Katrina Fitzpatrick, assisted by Luke Shaffer and a diverse cast of frequent clinicians.
